Ширио је хришћанство прво у Палестини, потом у Персији и Индији, гдје је и усмрћен копљима.
Мошти су му у четвртом вијеку пренесене у град Едесу, а потом у Цариград.
Томиндан многе породице у Републици Српској и Србији обиљежавају као своју крсну славу.
