Данас Света три Јерарха

Српска православна црква данас прославља празник Света три Јерарха, који се празнује заједнички у славу светитеља Василија Великог, Григорија Богослова и Јована Златоустог.

Празник је настао у 11. вијеку за вријеме византијског цара Алексија Комнина, након што је расправа о томе ко је од ова три светитеља највећи, која је пријетила озбиљној подјели у народу и Цркви.

Спор је био ријешен у корист Цркве тако што су се ова три светитеља јавила евхаитском епископу Јовану рекавши му: „Ми смо једно у Бога, као што видиш, и ништа у нама нема противрјечно, нити има међу нама првог ни другог”.

Светитељи још посавјетоваше епископа Јована да им он напише заједничку службу и одреди један заједнички дан празника.

Света три Јерарха су код Срба славе богословских факултета и академија, осим београдског, који слави Светог Саву, а у Грчкој је ово национални и школски празник.
