Српска православна црква /СПЦ/ прославиће сутра празник Благовијести, у помен на догађај када је Арханђео Гаврило јавио Пречистој Дјевици Марији да ће родити сина којем ће дати име Исус.

Пола године пошто је првосвештенику Захарији пројавио да ће у дубокој старости добити сина који ће бити Господњи Претеча /Свети Јован Крститељ/, Арханђео Гаврило јавио се Пречистој Дјевици Марији у Назарету, поздравивши је ријечима: “Радуј се, благодатна! Господ је с тобом, благословена си ти међу женама!”

Зачуђеној и уплашеној Дјевици Марији Арханђео објашњава необичан поздрав: “Не бој се, Марија, јер си нашла благодат у Бога! И ево зачећеш и родићеш сина и надјенућеш му име Исус. Он ће бити велики и назваће се Син Вишњега и даће му Господ Бог престо Давида, оца Његовог. И цареваће над домом Јаковљевим вавијек и царству Његовом неће бити краја”.

На Маријино питање како ће то бити када она не зна за мужа, Арханђео Гаврило одговара: “Дух Свети доћи ће на тебе и сила Вишњега осјениће те. Зато и оно што ће се родити биће свето и назваће се Син Божији”.

Благовијести спадају у ред Богородичних празника, у црквеном календару је означен црвеним словом и непокретан је.
